Since 2005, the GNO Vocalist-friendly Jazz Jam has become a tradition for Toronto jazz vocalists of all levels.

Founder Lisa Particelli encourages all to perform, share, teach, learn and grow in a nurturing, safe & friendly environment backed by top flight professional jazz musicians.

Co-hosts Ilana Waldston and Sam Broverman, along with Peter Hill on keys and Jordan O'Connor on bass will make sure everyone has a great time. Bring two lead sheets or sing a jazz standard and, if you need help, the band will help you find your key.

Don't sing? Then come listen and cheer the singers on... it's the best vocal variety show in Toronto; you just never know who might get up on stage and blow you away with their talent!

Accessiblity: This venue is on the ground floor and has an accessible washroom. No steps if using the side entrance.

Jazz singer Ilana Waldston explores the works of Jerome Kern, one of the most important American theatre composers of the 20th century and known as “The Godfather of the American Musical.” In this swinging hour, Ilana performs classics by the man who wrote over 700 songs, including Ol’ Man River, All The Things You Are, and the Oscar-winning The Way You Look Tonight. Ilana Waldston has been delighting audiences at venues all over Toronto with her comedic patter and her well-honed ability to sell a song. A graduate of the prestigious International Cabaret Conference at Yale and the Banff School of Fine Arts Drama program, Ilana is the founder of Recollectiv (www.recollectiv.ca), a music program for people with memory issues, and their care partners. www.jazznlaughs.ca

Duncan Hopkins has been working at the highest levels of jazz for almost thirty years, working with such luminaries as Diana Krall, Rob McConnell and the Boss Brass, Mark Murphy to name but a few. He has toured extensively and can be heard on over fifty albums, numerous CBC, BBC and NPR recordings.

Jordan Klapman has performed and recorded jazz and klezmer for five decades as a bandleader, accompanist, and soloist. A founding member of The Yiddish Swingtet, he plays piano in The Wintergarten Orchestra and 4Known.

A free, relaxing and fun hour of swinging jazz standards, ballads, bossas and a smattering of lighthearted comedic tunes with Ilana Waldston on vocals, Mark Eisenman on piano, Duncan Hopkins on bass and Drew Jurecka on violin.
